ASTP2/W and ASTP3/G type HDPE pipes and fittings

ASTP2/W and ASTP3/G type antistatic, flame retardant and non-toxic multilayer pipes and fittings as well as single-layer antistatic, flame retardant and non-toxic fittings

Purpose

Pipes and fittings are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The system is designed for the construction of pipelines in underground mine excavations in methane and non-methane fields classified as "a", "b" or "c" levels of methane explosion hazard and class A or B of coal dust explosion hazard, also in shafts.

In addition, the system can be used in mining plants for surface installations and as a liner in steel pipes.

Type ASTP2/W - to transport non-flammable liquids, including aggressive liquids (containing substances to which polyethylene is resistant), water (wastewater, mine water) and suspensions of all groups (e.g. with Clˉ+ SO4 2 content - from 1.8 to 42 g/dm3 and Clˉ+ SO4 2 - over 42g/dm3), water solutions, oil-water emulsions, brine, etc.

Type ASTP3/G - to transport compressed air, inert gases, methane, methane in negative pressure, in methane drainage installations and all the above-mentioned media for the ASTP2/W type.

Underpressure

ASTP3/G type pipes and fittings can be used in methane drainage installations in accordance with the requirements of the PN-G-44100:1996 standard and can operate under negative pressure of up to 60 kPa. ASTP3/G pipes and fittings for underpressure can be made for flange connections only. Only gaskets that meet the requirements of the regulations for use in underground mining excavations should be used.

Method of production

The pipes are made by co-extrusion, and the fittings are made by co-extrusion or injection, which guarantees a monolithic structure.

ASTP2/W segment pipes and fittings consist of two layers: the main structural layer made of HDPE PE 100 polyethylene and the outer, flame-retardant, non-toxic and antistatic HDPE PE 100 layer.

ASTP3/G segment pipes and fittings consist of three layers – the main layer made of HDPE PE 100 polyethylene and flame-retardant, non-toxic and antistatic outer and inner HDPE PE 100 layers.

Production range

Diameter range from DN 16 to DN 710 - nominal pressure from PN 2.5 to PN 40

Diameter range above DN 500, up to DN 710 - nominal pressure from PN 2.5 to PN 16

Pipes produced in sections: from 150mm to 12,000mm +/- 10mm

At the customer's request, it is possible to make a section of the pipeline of any length.

  • Advantages

    • resistant to aggressive environment, high humidity and corrosion
    • very high resistance to mechanical damage
    • light weight (six times less than steel),
    • smooth inner surface ensures a low coefficient of roughness, reduces pressure losses of about 25% compared to steel pipes,
    • excellent abrasion resistance, which extends service life,
    • pipeline does not require thermal insulation - low thermal conductivity,
    • pipeline does not require anti-corrosion protection,
    • pipeline free from fouling

    Pipe connection methods

    • flange connection with a flange sleeve,
    • removable steel flange,
    • mechanical connection, e.g. a connector for H305 type PE pipes, Victualic or equivalent - approved for use in underground mine excavations,
    • screw connection,
    • electrofusion welding,
    • butt welding.

*non-standard wall thickness in accordance with the factory standard of Plastpipe Ltd LP. Pipe series SDR 6 and SDR 5 are made to order. Tolerance of the outer diameter and ovality in accordance with the PN-EN 12201-2+A1:2013 standard.

Pipes and fittings can be produced with other, than given in tables 1 and 2, parameters, which allows  us to meet client expectations or project documentation.
